When I spotted a tiny cabin on a secluded island in Northern Ontario right before graduation, I knew it was calling me. Over one summer, I learned to drive a boat, clear the forest path, gut the interior, and install insulation, solar power, windows, and flooring while documenting the process. I painted the walls soft white to let the cathedral pine ceiling shine, added machine-washable textiles, and screened in the porch, creating a retreat shaped by nature and vintage finds. To me, Bluebird Cottage isn’t just a renovation. It’s a dream I built by hand, one nail and brushstroke at a time.
When I first stepped into Zane’s room, I saw so much potential. It felt like the perfect canvas for something playful yet refined. I layered in artwork from Society6 that added vibrancy and youthfulness, chose cozy Avocado bedding for sustainable comfort, and balanced it all with thoughtful textures and patterns. The final result is a space that feels lively, personal, and full of character—exactly what makes these design moments worth every detail.
This project was designed to feel light and inviting, with soft blue tones and natural materials that bring a sense of calm. I wanted each element to feel intentional—from the warm wood accents to the subtle pops of texture—that keep the space feeling grounded yet open. The result is fresh, relaxed, and full of quiet charm.
